Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides hands-on support in your home for people who need ongoing assistance to live as independently as possible.
What is SIL?
SIL funding pays for the support you need in your day-to-day life at home. It is not funding for the home itself (that is a separate category called Specialist Disability Accommodation, or SDA). SIL is about the people who support you — your team.
Who SIL is for
SIL is typically for people who need regular or daily support with personal care, household tasks, and daily routines. You may live in:
- Your own home or rental property
- A shared house with other NDIS participants
- Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
- A property arranged by your support network
How we provide SIL
KindPath provides SIL support that is rostered around your needs and preferences. We work with you, your family, and your Support Coordinator to develop a support model that reflects your lifestyle and goals.
We offer:
- 24/7 support for people with higher needs
- Daytime-only and overnight support options
- On-call overnight support (sleepover)
- Drop-in support models for greater independence
How to access SIL funding
SIL is funded through your NDIS plan under Core Supports (support category 01). Because SIL is complex and often requires substantial funding, your NDIA planner will usually request quotes directly from providers. Your Support Coordinator can assist with this process.
SIL arrangements take time to put in place. The sooner you get in touch, the better we can plan together. Contact Us
